What's your favorite Beagle magazine?

What is the best Beagling magazine out there now?
When I ran coondogs competitively, I had Coonhound Bloodlines and Prohound coming in. I'm mostly interested in "hunting" beagles, but I may give trialing a try. It's been years, but I've seen copies of Better Beagling, Hounds and Hunting, and the ARHA publication (probably 10 years ago). What's the best Beagling magazine being produced currently?

i don't know what is the best, but i know the rabbit hunter totally stinks anymore,if i did not field trial i would cancel my subscription, the only reason i keep it is for the hunt dates and results, they use to have good stories like the houndsman article with ol Ruff Towns witch was very interesting, and they would also talk to old hounds people like Earl Bruner,or Jim Mcguire, and Wayne Waites, people that used to win the world hunt every other year, not because they were gettin pulled through but because they had one hell of a hound that you had to beat to win but it was not that easy to beat them.but they would ask them questions and they would tell you what they thought a beagle should do and why,as a young feller back then i put a lot thought in what they had to say, that's how we learn is from older and experianced beaglers,my dad had dogs but they were not trial dogs they were slow old rabbit dogs that you could kill rabbits off of and that was all that matterd back then,i probally would not even feed them now,but i think they put alot of BS in the magizines anymore,so to answer the question i don't know what is the best beagler mag out there ,but i do know the rabbit hunter has went way down hill from the past say 8 years................

The American Beagler and Better Beagling. They are the only way to go and I get all 4 major Beagling magazines so I see them all month after month.

Better Beagling gets my vote. I like the hunting stories and hounds of the past. Also it has more info on trials and dogs in my area.
I get Hounds & Hunting also.

I agree with Mr. Vest, the The Better Beagling talks about dogs from the past. Very interesting reads!

I had Better Beagling for awhile. Some of it was interesting, but alot of info from back east. next to nothing for the Midwest.

The reason you have this message board is somewhat in part of The American Beagler. The American Beagler is a magazine that I started in 2001. TAB (as it is often referred to) covered ALL aspects of beagle and field trialing - except brace. I put my heart and soul into the magazine, many of its contributors are member of this very board, and it did very well, but I had somewhat of a life change and had to sell it in 2006. The Ridenhours of Missouri still publish it, but they were not interested in the message board. So here we are.
I miss my magazine; it was my baby, but there's really no going back when it comes to something like that. Besides, we're quickly becoming a "paperless" society with info being instantly available on the web, and I'm guessing all of the magazines are struggling a bit compared to what they were 10 years ago.

How about Hounds and Hunting? I remember seeing a few issues a bunch of years ago, but I can't remember the quality of the mag. Anyone get this one?

Bev, I miss your magazine. I was a subscriber from the start, have every issue. Just not the same now. I get TAB, RH and BB. They all have their strong points. Favorite is Better Beagling. I think they all cater to a specific geographical area or style of hound. When Bev had TAB it was very broad based and seemed to have something for all. Weakest is probably The Rabbit Hunter. Now that Hounds and Hunting has been sold, we'll see what becomes of it. I still enjoy the "hard copy" that a monthly mag provides

I prefer Better Beagling, there's not enough hunting content for my liking but it's still the best I've seen. The first article I read each month is the one by Rev Ford each month, they are generally good for a chuckle or two.
